The word for 09.01.2010 is FACE.

Today's word is FACE. As many of you will already know, at beginning of each month, l pick the words for my "http://oneimageaday.blogspot.com" blog challenge. My husband calls out numbers between 1-1000 ( which l keep adding to) and l look at the corresponding word for that particular number and that is the word for the day! Sometimes l really hate the words that turn up but today was one of my favorite. There are so many images l could have used for this word. I love taking portraits that have been set up or totally unstaged. But as l came out of my building, there in front of me were two snowmen, made by a family living in my block of flats. The expression on the face and his punk hair style just made me giggle, so decided to use it as my "face" image!

the word for 05.01.2010 is LINE

The word today is LINE.
One of the things the dictionary says about line is, "a long, narrow mark or band" and l thought this will be so easy but also could be very boring. Looking in the newspaper gives you hundreds of lines and the house is full of them. Every where l looked there were lines.  Nothing that would make people want to look forward to the next blog word image! I don't know how many people visit or read my blog but at least l could make it interesting for those that do! Also to remind myself why l do this..to get my creative juices going each day. If l found this boring, why would other people bother to want to read it!
Anyway, went about my daily work, while still remembering to look for my word. Then as l was thinking about Christmas wreaths and how, after more than a week, most are still on people's doors, l came across my image. There on the large ground floor window, was this very colourful painting of flowers, and also lines going the space, which belonged to a cloth-blind covering the window.

One of the many reasons l like this image, is because of the reflections in the background, which shows the houses on the street opposite. Also you can clearly see the blue sky surrounding the brick chimmney pots. The flowers look similar and yet if you look carefully you will see small differences. And the stems are different lengths and one of them is cut in two. I like the fact that the texture of the cloth- blind comes out in this image.

Today's word is reflection.
Today was such an amazing day, bright blue sky, no clouds, no wind but...very cold! So we decided to go to Kew Gardens, which is one of our favorite places to visit. So we wrapped up VERY warmly (see images in http://chocolatelifeandjazz.blogspot.com/..they are worth seeing..l promise!) and put the roof down. If you could see the expressions on people's faces, as we drove past ......roof down! Ha!
Anyway back to the word. Kew was packed with people and loads of children running around and having great fun. Lots of people only think of Kew in the Summer and the Autumn(Fall) but believe me it is amazing in the Winter as well.
I was very busy taking images of fungi and in my element, when l suddenly remembered, l still didn't have my word. So off l went in search of my word. We were almost all the way round the pond, having seen peacocks, moorhens and some amazing plants when we came to a bridge. On this bridge, people were feeding swans, ducks and unintentionally seagulls ! Then l saw my image from the bridge.

The reflection is from the wooden fence of the bridge, which is over the pond and I think the effect is amazing.
